:: HOW TO TRANSFORM AN IMAGE TO PENCIL DRAWING in PHOTOSHOP :: 

Hi there!
Here is a tutorial on how to transform
an image to look like a pencil sketch
in photoshop.
It is very quick and easy.












Follow this Steps

 














Open your image in Photoshop File > Open then locate you Jpeg file were you saved it


Increase the resolution to
a minimum of 300dpi by clicking  
Image > Image size (Alt + Ctrl + I) 















A pop-window will display




 
Increase the resolution to 300 and slam Ok 














Fit to screen by pressing Z > right click > Fit to screen 










Right click on the image layer and
click on Duplicate Layer

on the pop up rename the layer as “Girl” and click Ok.
 














on the pop up rename the layer as “Girl” and click Ok.





Now we will Desaturate the image (turning it to grayscale)
Image > Adjustment > Desaturate (Shift + Ctrl + U)
Increase the contrast of the image
Image > Adjustment > Levels  (Ctrl + L)
  
Increase the contrast of the image
"Image > Adjustment > Levels" 


Enter the numbers appropriately
1st Column – 0        
2nd Column– 1.57      
 3rd Column– 192 then click Ok 

Duplicate the layer "Girl" and rename it as "Girl 2”
Select the layer "Girl 2" and click on
Filter > Stylize > Glowing edges




Select the layer "Girl 2" and click on  "Filter > Stylize > Glowing edges" 

Adjust the numbers appropriately
Edge width – 4
Edge Brightness – 10
Smoothness – 3 
then click Ok
(on other images adjustment depends on the picture contrast make sure its a little thick and bright)








This is the result 





 
Press "Ctrl+I (invert)"  to get the pencil outline 


















change the  
"Blend mode > Overlay" 
















Duplicate the layer "Girl 2" rename it as “Girl 3” 


Click on "Filter > Artistic > Rough pastels" 
for pencil strokes


Fill the columns appropriately
Stroke length – 40
Stroke Detail – 20
Texture – Canvas
Scaling – 94
Relief – 33
Light – Bottom then click on OK

change the "Blend mode > Multiply" 

Clean off some parts and we are done 




















FOR MORE EFFECTS

To add some effects
Duplicate the original layer at the bottom (it should be called Background) rename it has Girl Colour
Drag it to the top of all the layers

Change the Blend mode > Hard light reduce the Fill – 70 






  
then clean off some parts leaving the extreme right, that the shoulder and the face
and this is the result
